- Dual HLA (High-response Linear Actuator): This new motor system replaces the previous stepping motor, providing much faster, quieter, and more accurate autofocus for both high-speed photography and video.
Reduced Weight & Size: Sigma successfully reduced the weight to roughly 525g (down from 640g) and shortened the length by about 14%, making it significantly more balanced on compact mirrorless bodies.
Advanced Amorphous Coating (AAC): A newly developed coating that drastically minimizes ghosting and flare, ensuring high-contrast images even when shooting directly into the sun.
Redesigned Optical Formula: The lens features 15 elements in 12 groups, including four aspherical elements (up from two) to achieve edge-to-edge sharpness and superior aberration control.
Minimized Focus Breathing: Specifically optimized for videographers, the Mark II version features a significant reduction in focus breathing compared to the previous model.
De-clickable Aperture Ring: Includes a manual aperture ring with a “click” switch, allowing for silent, smooth iris transitions during video recording.
Aperture Ring Lock Switch: A safety feature that prevents accidental shifts between the manual aperture range and the “Auto” (camera-controlled) setting.
Dual Customizable AFL Buttons: Now features two AFL buttons (one for horizontal and one for vertical orientation) that can be programmed to various camera functions.
11-Blade Rounded Diaphragm: This high blade count creates exceptionally smooth, circular bokeh even when the lens is stopped down slightly.
Full Weather Sealing: The construction is dust and splash-resistant, with a water- and oil-repellent coating on the front element to withstand harsh shooting environments.
